National Identity Card (Bilhete de Identidade)

The National Identity Card (Bilhete de Identidade) is the official civil identification document that certifies the holder as an Angolan citizen.

Requirements

1st Issuance (First Time Application)

To apply for a Bilhete de Identidade for the first time, please present the following documents:

• Photocopy of the identification document of one Angolan parent (valid National Identity Card).

• Original Birth Certificate or Baptism Certificate issued before 1 June 1963.

Duplicate / Reissue

(For cases of expiration, poor condition, loss, rectification, or amendment)

To request a duplicate or reissue, please submit:

• Photocopy of the previous National Identity Card.

• Police Report (in case of theft or loss).

• In case of amendment (averbamento), also attach:

  • Full Copy of the Birth Certificate, showing the corresponding annotation, OR

  • Marriage / Death / Divorce Certificate issued in Angola.
